Heritage High School’s girls basketball team extended its winning streak to 11 with a 60-23 victory against the Paloma Valley Wildcats on Thursday evening.
Junior LaKaila Trimble took her spot as Heritage’s leading scorer, finishing with 18 points for the Patriots. Additionally, senior Sierra Maxwell helped lead her team to victory with 17 points.
The Patriots started the game in the forefront. They took advantage of their chances and opportunities, giving them a secure lead against the Wildcats. While Paloma tried to take the game back, it was short-lived. Heritage maintained control and possession of the ball while keeping it in their offensive zone.
By halftime, the score was 38-9, Patriots in the lead. Paloma evened out the possession slightly in the first half but did not capitalize on shot opportunities. The Wildcats improved in the second half. Paloma’s offense in the fourth quarter improved, growing more aggressive with their shots and style of play as a whole.
Paloma’s leading scorer was Ambriel Hawkins with 10 points. Mianna Bravo, who played an important role in the last half, put up 6.
Heritage will put its 11-0 record on the line at home against Yucaipa on Friday. Paloma Valley, which is now 3-10, doesn’t play again until Dec. 27 against San Leandro in the So Cal Holiday Prep Classic.
