Ricky Estrada extended his lead over Lesa Sobek in the Menifee Mayoral race to 218 votes, according to Thursday’s update of the election results.
In the last two days of counting “cured” votes – those where discrepancies on voter signatures were corrected – Estrada has received 592 votes to Sobek’s 280. The Registrar of Voters reports that approximately 11,000 vote-by-mail and 15,100 Conditional Voter Registration ballots remain to be counted.
The Registrar has until Dec. 5 to certify the final election results – one day after the City Council meeting in which the change in council seats normally takes place. It is beginning to appear more likely that the council changes won’t take place until the following council meeting, which is scheduled for Dec. 18.
In the race for school bond Measure R, “yes” votes continue to lead with 56.08 percent of the votes.
Here are the latest numbers:
Menifee mayor:
Ricky Estrada 21,926 votes (44.22%)
Lesa Sobek 21,708 votes (43.78%)
Dameon Greene 5,952 votes (12.00%)
Measure R - Bond Measure for Menifee Union School District
Yes 29,082 votes (56.08%)
No 22,777 votes (43.92%)
