Menifee 24/7 celebrates 20th birthday with a celebration

Doug and Kristen Spoon were honored by City Manager Armando Villa, City Council member Lesa Sobek, and Mayor Bill Zimmerman during a 20th anniversary celebration held on Friday.

 
The Menifee 24/7 news website celebrated its 20th year in business Friday with a celebration including local dignitaries and readers.

The event, held at The Lakes Community clubhouse, featured a “re-dedication” ribbon cutting. There was no incorporated City of Menifee nor a Menifee Chamber of Commerce when menifee247.com launched in 2004. The ribbon cutting was conducted by Tony Reverditto and Jesse Sims of the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Menifee 24/7 owners Doug and Kristen Spoon were awarded certificates by the Chamber of Commerce, City of Menifee, and Senator Kelly Seyarto’s office. Local comedian Rocky Osborn entertained the audience and presentations included a video showing highlights of Menifee 24/7’s news coverage, including an original song.

Menifee 24/7 receives more than half a million page views per month and has more than 50,000 followers on its Facebook page. Its reach extends around the world, with military men and women based on foreign countries using it to follow events in their hometown.
