The Menifee Police Department has been approved for the purchase of six new vehicles to replace older patrol cars in their fleet.

The purchase, authorized by the City Council last week, will be made with funds provided through the American Rescue Plan Act and the city’s Development Impact Funds. The total cost of six Chevrolet Tahoe cruisers; uplifts including lights and sirens; mobile radios; and on-board computers is not to exceed $661,882.

The cost of each Tahole 4x4 vehicle alone from Winner Chevrolet of Sacramento is $55,000, according to the approved proposal.

“Menifee PD has begun the process of procuring replacement vehicles to ensure that the City is able to continue to meet the operational demands of the Department without service interruptions,” the agenda item states.
