Longtime Menifee resident, social activist and volunteer Vicki Carpenter was honored by the City Council Wednesday night as Menifee’s Outstanding Citizen of the Month.
Carpenter moved to the area in the 1980s and eventually married Tom Carpenter, who was one of the original Sun City residents in 1964. Tom Carpenter was a well-known attorney in town and was a dedicated volunteer in the community. Vicki has carried on Tom’s legacy and is involved in countless community organizations and activities.
Vicki is a member of the California Association of Realtors; the Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees; the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce; and Rotary Club of Menifee, among others. She is a strong supporter of the domestic violence shelter in the community and spends time delivering meals and visiting with senior shut-ins.
“You have been a role model for all of us,” Mayor Bill Zimmerman said. “You have shown us how to grow a consensus, get a team together and make things happen.”
Carpenter thanked all those who have supported her over the years.
“I can’t say enough about the example my late husband Tom set for me,” she said. “He showed me what leadership is all about. I stand on his shoulders and on the shoulders of many others. Thank you.”
