Lesa Sobek, alongside her husband Jim, has proudly called Menifee home for 35 years, raising their three children in this community. Her deep-rooted ties to Menifee are reflected in her dedicated service in various roles, including her work with the Menifee School District.
In August 1997, Lesa was hired by MUSD to research and develop a literacy initiative that became the GREAT (Grandparents, Reading, Enriching, and Tutoring) Program. Under her leadership, this program earned the prestigious “Golden Bell Award” from the California School Boards Association, recognizing its impact on literacy in our schools.
Lesa’s commitment to service extends beyond education. In 2005, when her oldest son joined the U.S. Army, she gained a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by our military families. This led her to work with city officials and the Veterans Committee to establish the “Menifee Military Banner Program,” honoring local veterans and active-duty service members.
A passionate advocate for youth, families, and seniors, Lesa has organized food drives for the Menifee Community Cupboard, worked with countless non-profits, and founded the “Menifee Better Together Program,” which brings residents together for community clean-up days that have benefited hundreds of seniors and improved neighborhoods and parks. She has also raised awareness around domestic violence and supported efforts for the local shelter.
Over the past 35 years, Lesa has served her church in various leadership roles, including as president of the women’s, youth, and children’s organizations, and for 20 years, as director of public affairs and communications. Her commitment to the city continued as she served on the Menifee Planning Commission before being elected to the City Council in 2015. One notable achievement was working to establish Menifee’s own Police Department.
Lesa is a proven leader with strong family values, a solid work ethic, and a passion for serving Menifee’s businesses and residents. Her top priorities include:
1. Infrastructure and traffic solutions
2. Safety and quality of life
3. Expanding social infrastructure by attracting more restaurants and entertainment options for residents.
In her spare time, Lesa enjoys spending time with her family, further embodying the values she holds dear.
Lesa humbly asks for your vote on Nov. 5. Together, we can keep Menifee a thriving, vibrant community.
