A GoFundMe page has been started in order to aid the family of a 16-year-old girl who was hit by a car while riding her bicycle in Menifee Oct. 20.
The girl, identified as Elena on the GoFundMe page, was on her bike in the crosswalk of the 215 Freeway south exit ramp at Newport Road about 6:30 p.m., a friend told Menifee 24/7. She was struck by a driver who stayed at the scene. Elena suffered a broken leg and had surgery. She is now home.
According to the GoFundMe page, the bike was Elena's only way to get to school. The daughter of a single working mother, she is seeking assistance, and her mother faces mounting medical bills. To access the GoFundMe page, click here.
