Press release from the City of Menifee:
MENIFEE -- Honoring the contributions and sacrifices of our military community continues to be a proud tradition in Menifee. This year, the City of Menifee will host its annual Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at Hidden Hills Park (31727 Eaton Lane, near the corner of Evans Road and Quilt Way). This family-friendly event will include special presentations, veteran recognition, speeches, and an aerial fly-over to conclude the ceremony.
The keynote speaker for this year’s event is Master Gunnery Sergeant Arthur “Artie” Allen III, a retired 31-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and current Chairman of the Riverside County Veterans Advisory Committee. Veterans and families can also explore local resources and meet service providers. A continental breakfast will be provided. The event is hosted in partnership with VFW Post 1956 and the Mt. San Jacinto College Veterans Club.
“Menifee strives to ensure that our military veterans are both appreciated and supported,” said Mayor Pro Tem Dean Deines. “That is why we have also started a new Veterans and Military Families Advisory Committee that will be focused on addressing the needs of our veterans community.”
Formally established by the Menifee City Council in August, the Veterans and Military Families Advisory Committee (VMFAC) will promote public service and community involvement; review proposals for programs, projects, and facilities; promote involvement in community events programs or volunteer projects; and act in an advisory capacity to the City Council, implementing veteran oriented directives related to City projects, events, and veteran and military families oriented programs.
VMFAC will be comprised of five members appointed at-large by the Menifee City Council and will serve a two-year term with no term limits. To be eligible for consideration, prospective members must be registered to vote in the City of Menifee. Active-duty military members must be registered to vote but do not need to be registered in Menifee. VMFAC meeting dates and times will be determined by the committee at their first meeting in 2025.
