A Menifee man faces a charge of first-degree burglary after he was arrested in Menifee Town Center Thursday, police said.
Menifee Police Department officers were responding to the report of a male roaming apartment complexes and trying to locate unlocked doors, according to an MPD news release. The incidents took place during the early morning hours. In one case, the suspect entered a home through an unlocked door but fled when the residents awoke.
The suspect was recorded on Nextdoor and Ring platforms.
Detectives investigating the case encountered a suspect matching the description in the early morning hours Thursday in the area of Park Plaza Avenue and Town Center Drive. When contacted, the suspect fled and was taken into custody after a short foot chase.
Irving William Firtha-Morrison, 29, was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.
The Menifee Police Department urges residents to keep their doors locked, even while at home, and to report any suspicious activity at 951-677- 4964 or by dialing 9-1-1 for emergencies.
