Menifee 24/7 kicks off the new high school sports season by honoring Athletes of the Month for August at Paloma Valley High School. Honorees were selected by the coaches of their respective sports and were recognized with a presentation of certificates and photo opportunity on campus.
Senior girls volleyball player Grace Liesemeyer broke the school record with 151 aces in her career and had 28 digs in a recent win. The Wildcats, who are 9-4 this season, defeated Linfield Christian Tuesday night, with Liesemeyer serving 5 more aces and totaling 12 digs.
On the season, Liesemeyer has a 91.4 serve percentage, 112 digs, and 33 assists.
Junior Arthur Clemons is off to a fast start for the Wildcats football team. He has caught 8 passes for 206 yards and is a valuable return man on special teams for Paloma, which is 1-1 so far.
“Arthur has a relentless work ethic in everything he does,” said coach Juan Merida. “In our most recent game (a 21-7 win over Moreno Valley), he had huge returns that set the team up for success, and 4 catches for a whopping 141 yards. He is a leader on and off the field.”
Sheanen Harrison was the girls cross country team’s No. 1 runner at the recent Bronco Invitational, where she finished 10th overall with a time of 13.26 on the 2-mile course.
Boys cross country runner Michael Jenkins was his team’s No. 1 runner at the Bronco Invitational with a time of 11:21. That’s two minutes faster than his time last year, said coach Joe Ellett.
