Patriots start slowly, can't recover in 42-8 loss at La Quinta

Heritage High’s football team fell behind early and couldn’t recover Thursday night, losing a 42-8 decision at La Quinta.

The Patriots, who won for the first time in more than two years in last week’s opener, fell behind 15-0 by the end of the first quarter. Midway through the second quarter, La Quinta made it 21-0, then scored again with about a minute left in the quarter for a 28-0 halftime lead.

La Quinta led 42-0 when Heritage finally scored on a 10-yard pass from Achilles Reveles to Dominic Dunn-Tornatore-Spiker. A 2-point conversion pass made the score 42-8.

Next Friday the Patriots return home to host Knight.
