Coaches addressed the Liberty High players after Friday night's victory.
Trent Hallis ran for three touchdowns and more than 125 yards Friday night as the Liberty High School football team opened its season with a 27-17 victory at Temecula Valley.
Parris Peacock scored the first touchdown of the game for the Bison and finished with more than 100 yards rushing. Liberty never trailed in the game. The Bison led 20-17 at halftime and held the opposition scoreless in the second half.
Hallis scored the last three touchdowns for Liberty, including a 79-yard run in the second quarter that made the score 20-9.
Liberty coach Adam Contreras praised both running backs as well as quarterback Anthony Quinones, who complemented the running game with a consistent passing attack.
“He did well,” Contreras said about Quinones. “He was able to get out of the pocket and make some really good throws.”
Contreras was also impressed with the play of the defense.
“[Nose guard] Mike Ouaroub did a good job dominating up front,” the coach said. “Really, the whole defensive line forced them to pass. Their quarterback is mobile and got out of the pocket to make some things happen, but overall our defense played well. We created some turnovers, which was a benefit to the whole team.”
Liberty will be at home against Sultana next Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
