Candidate introduction: Lesa Sobek runs for Menifee Mayor

They also have the option of purchasing paid political advertisements. In today’s statement we hear from Lesa Sobek, a City Council member and candidate for Mayor of Menifee.

Dear Menifee Residents,

Our family moved to Menifee in 1989 from Riverside. My husband and I loved raising our family here in the Menifee area. I have served my community, church and in the Menifee Union School District in countless leadership capacities.

Before being elected in 2015 to the City Council, I served as a City Planning Commissioner. It truly has been an honor to serve the residents of Menifee and directly with those who live in District 3.

As Mayor, I will continue as a voice for all residents. I have fresh ideas and the passion to stand up for the citizens, improving their quality of life. My top priorities are tackling TRAFFIC, PUBLIC SAFETY, ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE, LOCAL JOB CREATION and attracting ENTERTAINMENT and RECREATIONAL AMENITIES.

A few of my accomplishments:

-- Driving force with former Council member Matt Leisemeyer in the creation of the Menifee Police Department – increasing officers from 47 to 97, saving $5 million the first year.

-- Developed the first Homeless Taskforce

-- Created the Military Banner Program

-- Finance Committee - presented balanced budgets

-- Menifee Better Together, including the senior citizen home revitalization with Habitat for Humanity

-- Developed Outstanding Citizen of the Month program

-- Instituted Menifee Citizen’s Academy

-- Southwest Higher Education Coalition, working to bring higher education closer for our students.

-- Named Woman of the Year by Assembly member Melissa Melendez, 2013

-- Named Woman of the Year by Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, 2022

I am the only Mayoral candidate that has been endorsed by Mayor Bill Zimmerman, Mayor Pro Tem Dean Deines, Council member Bob Karwin and former Council member Matt Liesemeyer.

In my City Council capacity, I have represented the City of Menifee at the county, state and federal levels. I am respected by many elected officials and other leaders throughout the region.

As a servant leader, I have the experience and knowledge to address the concerns of the residents, and I would be honored to serve as the next Mayor of the City of Menifee.
