Candidate introduction: Bob Karwin runs for City Council

Editor’s note: It’s campaign season for candidates seeking local public office. As residents are certified as official candidates, we invite them to submit an introductory statement for publication. In today’s statement we hear from Bob Karwin, the incumbent on the City Council in District 1, the northwest portion of the city.

It has been one of the great honors of my life to serve as Menifee's District 1 Councilman for the past four years. I am seeking re-election so I can continue the tremendous work this council has done to guide Menifee into the future.

During my time on City Council, Menifee became one of California's Top 20 Safest Cities and was ranked the No. 7 "Boomtown" in the entire nation. We also added a second paramedic unit to our Sun City fire station to dramatically reduce medical emergency response times. We did all of this while presenting a balanced budget and setting aside a 35 percent reserve fund so that city services will not interrupted during an emergency or crisis.

My roots in the community run deep. My wife and I raised our two children here in Menifee's District 1. They both attended elementary, middle school and high school here. For the past 18 years, I have supported my family with a small business that I started, and continue to operate, right here in District 1.

My experience and collaborative approach have helped us add necessary infrastructure to our young city, but there is more work to be done. I am proud of my record while serving you and would appreciate your vote to continue our path of success. Please visit www.karwinforcouncil.com
