Seven people and two dogs were displaced Thursday morning when a two-story single-family dwelling caught fire in Menifee, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 8:08 a.m. in the 27000 block of Swift Street, off Bradley Road and just south of Newport Road. The blaze was contained to the structure, which is uninhabitable due to major fire and smoke damage, according to Cal Fire.

Southern California Red Cross is assisting those who were displaced.
