The City of Menifee has issued official notice that a General Municipal Election will be held on Nov. 5 for the city offices of mayor, District 1 representative and District 3 representative.
The nomination period for the offices begins on July 15 and closes on Aug. 9 at 5 p.m. Each office is for a four-year term.
If nomination papers for an eligible incumbent officer are not filed by Aug. 9, the registered voters for that office will have until Aug. 14 to nominate candidates other than the persons who are the incumbents for that office. If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the office may be made.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 5.
Mayor Bill Zimmerman is not eligible to run for that office again. District 1 representative Bob Karwin is eligible to run again in his district. Lesa Sobek has termed out as a district representative in District 3 but would be eligible to run for mayor – an office for which she has previously announced she will run.
