Prep Roundup: Santa Rosa loses in softball playoff opener

Santa Rosa Academy’s softball team scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extra innings but gave up a run in the eighth and lost a 5-4 decision to Calvary Chapel of Santa Ana Thursday in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs.

Jordan Krueger struck out 13 for the Rangers but walked 10 and gave up five hits. SRA outhit the opposition, 10-5. Lisa Cante had three hits for the Rangers.

On the baseball field, Santa Rosa Academy lost a 10-0 decision at Azusa in the first round of the Division 8 playoffs. In Division 4, Heritage lost a 12-3 decision at La Quinta. The home team broke the game open with six runs in the sixth inning. Brandon Alley went 3 for 4 with 3 stolen bases for the Patriots.

In a Division 3 playoff opener in girls lacrosse, Heritage lost to Murrieta Valley, 7-3.
