A Menifee man was arrested Thursday in connection with a May 8 shooting incident in the area, authorities said.
Wilfred Fonteno, 52, was arrested on several felony violations, including weapons charges, after officers served a search warrant at a residence in the 29000 block of Cottonwood Cove Drive, according to a Menifee Police Department news release. Evidence at the scene linked the suspect to the earlier shootings.
The initial incident took place about 3 a.m. on May 8, when officers responded to the area of Northshore Drive in response to reports of gunshots being fired. Officers were unable to locate the suspect, bullet casings or victims, but began investigation.
About 6 a.m., the dispatch center received calls with additional information about the incident, including reports of bullet holes discovered in vehicles in the community. Over the last few weeks, investigators worked to identify the suspect.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Ramirez at 951-723-1614 or email jramirez@menifeepolice.org.
