An adult female jumped to her death from the McCall Boulevard 215 Freeway bridge Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident was reported at 1:48 p.m., according to a California Highway Patrol press release. Callers informed CHP dispatchers that a pedestrian had intentionally jumped off the bridge onto the southbound freeway lanes. The CHP and Menifee Police Department responded to the scene and located a deceased female in the No. 1 lane.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the female jumped off the bridge onto a white Hyundai Accent, which was driven by a 45-year-old female from Temecula and was traveling in the No. 1 lane at approximately 80 mph. The female was thrown from the top of the Hyundai Accent and was struck by a Lexus RX500, which was driven by a 53-year-old male from Winchester and was traveling directly behind the Hyundai Accent at about 55-60 mph.
The female suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the Hyundai Accent suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Lexus RX500 was uninjured. The CHP closed the No. 1 and 2 lanes during the investigation.
The victim's identity has not been released. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have other information should contact the CHP Temecula Area office at 951-466-4300.
