Three local high school softball teams who are league champions will have home games Thursday in the first round of the CIF playoffs.
In Division 5, defending CIF-SS champion Liberty will be at home for a 3:15 p.m. game against Palm Desert. The Bison are 18-6 overall and won the Mountain Pass League championship with a 9-1 record. In their last two games, they scored easy victories over West Valley (21-0) and Citrus Hill (19-0).
In another Division 5 game, Paloma Valley will be at home against San Jacinto. The Wildcats are 15-9, having wrapped up the Sunbelt League title on Friday (6-2 in league).
Santa Rosa Academy will be at home in a Division 6 game against the winner of the wild-card game between Calvary Chapel of Downey and Calvary Chapel of Santa Ana. The Rangers went undefeated at 10-0 in winning the South Valley League title and are 17-3 overall.
