Liberty High School sophomore Anna Bozanic continued her success in the sport of wrestling last weekend, winning the 235-pound division title at the National High School Coaches Association Championships in Virginia.
Bozanic qualified for the event with her high placing in the CIF State Championships the last two years. She placed third in the state each year. She was seeded third in Virginia and wrestled five times in a 32-person bracket against opponents from several states. All her wins were by pin except for the semifinals, which her opponent forfeited due to a concussion.
During her championship run, Bozanic did not give up a point to the opposition. Her pins came in 30 seconds, 42 seconds, 1 minute 22 seconds, and 4 minutes 46 seconds.
As a result, Bozanic was named a High School All-American.

"Anna's doing what she can to help represent Liberty, PUHSD, and the Inland Empire in wrestling and hopefully inspires other girls to pick up the sport and find joy in it," said Michael Bozanic, Anna's father and coach at Liberty High School.
