Two people were injured Thursday night in a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle, police said.
The incident occurred at 11:36 p.m. just east of the intersection of Newport Road and Menifee Road, according to a Menifee Police Department news release. A Toyota sedan and Harley Davidson motorcycle were both traveling east on Newport Road when the motorcycle struck the rear of the sedan, police said.
When first responders arrived, the motorcycle and rider were down in the westbound lanes of Newport Road near Stater Way. That rider suffered severe injuries. The Toyota was stopped in the eastbound turn lane of that intersection. The driver sustained minor injuries.
The motorcyclist was listed in critical condition at a local hospital. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision, police said. The exact cause of the collision is under investigation.
Anyone who has any information regarding this collision is asked to call Officer Norwood at 951-723-1612 or contact the Traffic Unit at 951-723-1690.
