The Sun City Library is hosting several special activities in the coming weeks.
The library is holding a writing contest and awards brunch hosted by the World of Writing: Writer's Club, which meets every third Thursday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon. Anyone is welcome to enter.
Contestants can write a short story up to 5,000 words in length or three poems that can either be handed in in person or submitted to infoscy@rivlib.net. The last day to enter is March 30. On April 18 at 11:30 a.m., there will be a brunch for the contestants, at which time winners will be announced and prizes to the first, second, and third place winners. Sign-ups for the brunch are also required.
Spots can be reserved by calling the library at 951-679-3534 or by going to the front desk in person. The last day to register for the brunch is March 23.
Other activities include:
English Conversation Group, every Tuesday from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.: English language learners are encouraged to come by and practice together in a low-pressure environment. People from all language backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to come and chat with us!
Homeschool Hangout: A space for locally homeschooled kids to come and socialize while relaxing or learning something new! This program meets every final Friday of the month from 1-2:30 p.m. The first meeting will be a game day on March 29.
Community Connections: This program is a series dedicated to providing the community with an opportunity to learn something new from a local business. It meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 1 PM. This month we're talking to Leilani Anderson from New York Life Insurance about how to make life insurance benefit you during your lifetime. Next month on April 25 we'll be talking about end of life options with Dearly Beloved Mortuary Services.
