On Feb. 9-10, the Santa Rosa Academy boys wrestling team competed in the CIF-SS Northern division at Sonora High School, while the girls traveled to Adelanto High School to compete in the CIF-SS Central Division.
At the boys' tournament, three of the 10 qualifiers made it to day two: Dryden Strauser (12), Ryan Galvan (12), and Caleb Delgado (11), with Galvan in the semifinals. On day two, Strauser and Delgado lost close matches in the consolation bracket, and Galvan earned sixth place and is an alternate for the CIF-SS Masters Tournament in Palm Springs.
At the girls’ tournament, the seven qualifying girls fought hard matches, and freshman Bryleigh Delis wrestled her way to day two of the tournament. On day two, Delis won her first match of the day, guaranteeing her a spot in the Masters Tournament. She placed eighth at CIF at 125 pounds, wrestling her way through the 32-girl bracket. She will wrestle at Palm Springs High School on Saturday.
