An employee of the Menifee Union School District was arrested Tuesday for alleged possession of child pornography, police said.
Tristan Perez, 28, was taken into custody without incident. The arrest was made by members of the Menifee Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Perez was booked at the Southwest Detention Center and released on Tuesday. He faces an April 5 court date
According to an email sent to parents by MUSD, Perez "supports Chester W. Morrison Elementary School, Freedom Crest Elementary School, and Oak Meadows Elementary School." No description of his job title was given.
"We understand this news is unsettling and may cause distress and confusion," the email stated. "The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priority, and we are committed to providing support and resources during this difficult time. We encourage anyone who is feeling upset, confused, or unsafe to reach out for support. School administrators and counselors are available to provide support to students and staff who may need it."
There is no reason to believe that any students or members of the community are victims of Perez, according to a Menifee PD news release. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Marcinko at amarcinko@menifeepolice.org or 951-723-1613.
