In response to a School Resource Officer’s report, a student at Paloma Valley High School was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of making criminal threats against other students at the school, authorities said.
The Menifee Police Department officer was made aware of the threats while working on campus, according to a Menifee PD news release. An investigation included a search of the suspect’s residence. It was determined that the suspect student did not have immediate access to firearms, but the threat was deemed credible.
The student was transported for booking at Southwest Juvenile Hall. The student’s identity is being withheld because the student is a minor.
The school was not placed on lockdown, said Menifee PD spokesperson Chase Coburn. "[Students] were evacuated twice earlier in the day, but that was due to two unrelated incidents with the fire alarm," she said.
No other details were released.
“We would like to take this time to remind the public we take all threats to public safety seriously,” the news release stated. “The Menifee Police Department is committed to working closely with school administrators to ensure students have a safe place to learn and grow.”
