City of Menifee officials, law enforcement officers and veterans gathered on Wednesday for a special welcome home to a U.S. Naval Chief Petty Officer.
Nicholas Taylor surprised his children first, then his wife at their home as he arrived back from serving in the Indo-Pacific region the last six months. Taylor first surprised his oldest daughter Vanessa at school, then younger daughters Anastasia and Jessica at a local park, and finally his wife Fortuna at their home in Menifee.
Mayor Bill Zimmerman and fellow City Council members Bob Karwin and Lesa Sobek were in attendance, as were several members of the Menifee Police Department. Curious neighbors came out to see what all the commotion was about as several motor officers led a parade up to the house.
Members of VFW Post 1956 greeted the family as well.
Nicholas and his family were presented with gifts from sponsors, including a gift package from Pins N Pockets; dinner for two at French Valley Café; and three citrus trees from Louie’s Nursery.
