Local officials celebrate the dedication of the new stadium and kinesiology complex at MSJC.
Press release from Mt. San Jacinto College:
Mt. San Jacinto College hosted a dedication ceremony Sept. 5 to officially open the more than $50 million state-of-the-art Athletics & Kinesiology Complex. College officials, faculty, staff, local leaders, and community members attended the event and together celebrated this exciting milestone in the college’s history.
Opening this addition to MSJC’s Menifee Valley Campus is a testament to the college’s commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics. This new Athletics & Kinesiology complex boasts amenities including:
-- A 30,722 square-foot, 5,000-seat stadium
-- Beach volleyball court
-- Softball field
-- Press box for coaches
-- Training facilities for student-athletes
-- Team rooms
-- Classrooms
-- Gathering spaces for community events
College officials and other community leaders shared their journey, appreciation, and excitement to be opening this incredible facility.
"The complex is our most recent achievement that will transform our college district and our region,” said Superintendent/President Roger Schultz, Ph.D. "We are honored to be a point of pride for Menifee, the surrounding communities, and the county of Riverside."
"I walked across it (the field), and I could feel the energy. It's here, it's coming,” said Vicki Carpenter, Board Trustee, adding that she can’t wait for Saturday night, the first home game for the MSJC Eagles.
"This is a milestone,” Menifee Mayor Bill Zimmerman said. “This is an historic day. This is something that is monumental, and one we are all going to remember.”
Patrick Springer, Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics, thanked the taxpayers for supporting Measure AA, MSJC’s facilities bond. “Without them it wouldn’t have happened,” he said.
Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington, a representative from Riverside County Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez’s office, and Mayor Zimmerman presented the college with proclamations and certificates to recognize this momentous occasion.
The stadium and kinesiology complex will open this weekend for the first home football game -- the MSJC Eagles vs. the Citrus College Owls. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. Pregame activities will begin at 4 p.m. in the courtyard. Vista Murrieta High School band will be performing at halftime.
