Six drivers were arrested for DUI-related charges at a DUI Checkpoint conducted by the Menifee Police Department Saturday night.
Four motorists were arrested for alcohol DUI, one for alcohol and drugs, and one for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to an MPD news release. Four other drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license.
The checkpoint was conducted from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. on McCall Boulevard near Sun City Boulevard. Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests.
The Menifee Police Department will hold another DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint during the winter season, and a date will be announced in the near future. However, additional officers will be on DUI patrol Monday, Aug. 28 from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
