Mountain hiker rescued with moderate injuries

A female who suffered moderate injuries on a mountain hike in Menifee was carried down to the trail head and transported by ambulance Thursday morning, authorities said.

A 911 call came in at 9:46 a.m. from a location about two miles up a popular mountain hiking trail west of Simpson and Menifee Road, according to Cal Fire officials. A helicopter was dispatched to the area but was called off when rescuers were able to carry the woman down the mountain to safety.

The individual’s identity has not been released.
