Two juveniles are in police custody in connection with the armed robbery of a U.S. Postal Service worker in Menifee on Tuesday, authorities said.
Menifee Police officers responded at 11:20 a.m. to the scene of the robbery in the 28400 block of Cathedral Street, according to a Menifee PD news release. The postal worker reported being robbed at gunpoint while delivering mail in the area. The victim gave a description of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle, a white Kia Optima.
Surrounding agencies were given the description and a Sheriff’s Department vehicle reported at 2:33 p.m. that it was following a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s car. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the suspect took off and a pursuit began.
The pursuit ended at the intersection of McCall Boulevard and Briggs Road when the suspect’s vehicle collided with another vehicle. The three passengers of the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries. Two occupants of the suspect vehicle were not injured and were taken into custody.
The postal worker positively identified one of the juveniles as the suspect from the robbery. Anyone with additional information should contact Detective Torres at mtorres@MenifeePolice.org.
