A Sun City man was killed Thursday when he was ejected from his motorcycle on the 15 Freeway, authorities said.
The 76-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, was riding a 2017 Harley Davidson and was splitting the No. 1 and 2 lanes at about 10-15 mph in the northbound lanes of the freeway at Winchester Road, according to a CHP news release. Traffic at 6:10 p.m. was traveling at about 5-10 mph during the afternoon commute.
As the cyclist moved between two big rigs, he lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. He went into the No. 3 lane and was run over by the rear wheels of a big rig. The victim died of his injuries at the scene.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were involved. There is no indication that the driver of the big rig had any knowledge that they were involved in a crash.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the CHP Temecula Area office at 951-506-2000.
