A yard sale will be held here on June 10 to raise funds in support of a former Menifee family whose 10-month-old daughter is recovering from a heart transplant.
Bailey Lopp, a twin, was born July 7, 2022 in northern California, where her parents had recently moved from Menifee due to a job relocation, said Bailey’s grandmother, Cherie Medina. At age 4 weeks, Bailey developed respiratory problems and eventually received a heart transplant due to an enlarged heart. She has spent most of her life at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto.
The family, including many relatives still living in Menifee and surrounding areas, is being supported by the Children’s Organ Transplant Association. COTA has set a fundraising goal of $100,000 to assist the family. Bailey has to live within 15 minutes of the hospital for at least three months, and housing expenses in the area average $8,000 to $10,000 per month, Medina said.
So far, $38,237 has been raised, said Medina. If the family can reach $50,000, COTA will give them a challenge grant as well. Updates on Bailey can be found at www.COTAforBailey.com.
The fundraising yard sale will be held June 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 26308 Lazy Creek Road in Menifee.
“The family and friends of Bailey Lopp want to encourage everyone to attend our yard sale and help give Bailey Lopp a second chance at life,” said Medina. “100 percent of the profits from the yard sale will assist with transplant-related expenses.
