There was heavy police presence in the area surrounding the Cherry Hills Plaza today for the investigation of an assault that occurred at a local residence, authorities said.
Menifee Police officers responded at 7 a.m. to the report of a stabbing at a residence in the 27000 block of Sun City Boulevard, across the street from the shopping center in the Sun City community in Menifee, according to a Menifee PD news release. The calling party stated that an adult male was stabbed and was being transported to a local hospital.
A subsequent call from the reporting party indicated that they were still trying to get to the hospital and at that point were driving on Highway 74 near Menifee Road, said Lt. Christina Reveles. Police officers intercepted the individuals at that location. Officers rendered aid while waiting for Cal Fire to arrive. The male was eventually transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
The investigation revealed that a dispute between occupants of the residence resulted in the stabbing. It was determined to be an isolated incident and all parties knew each other. One individual was arrested on felony assault charges. Another outstanding subject is a person of interest for questioning. There is no danger to the community, police said.
That area of Sun City was the scene of police activity for several hours during the investigation at the residence. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective William Flores at Wflores@menifeepolice.org.
