The project will construct a 10-foot-wide walkway on a 1,400-foot stretch of Normandy Road.
The Menifee Planning Commission this week gave preliminary approval to a project that will construct a pedestrian walkway on a stretch of Normandy Road east of La Ladera Road.
The 10-foot-wide paved sidewalk would stretch for 1,433 feet on the north side of Normandy Road as it crosses the Salt Creek bed. Officials plan to begin this project in the next couple weeks and have it completed in time for the opening of the new middle school in Audie Murphy Ranch.
The Planning Commission’s action declared that there is no negative effect on the environment and sent its recommendation of approval to the City Council, where it will be considered at the July 21 meeting. The project is not to exceed $411,819.
The project will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be the widening of the road and completion of the walkway. The second phase will construct a head wall to protect the roadway.
