A Menifee 15-year-old has earned a spot in the International Mixed Martial Arts Youth World Championships, scheduled for Aug. 2-5 in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Kahlil Pilacin qualified for the World Championships by placing first in his age division at the U.S. National Youth Pankration Championships in Ontario last month. Kahlil and 18 teammates from ages 8-17 will represent the U.S. in Abu Dhabi.
After taking taekwondo classes beginning at age 8, Kahlil started training in martial arts every day two years ago at Carlson Gracie Menifee. He has excelled in judo and kickboxing classes. Kahlil also competes on the wrestling team at Liberty High School. His goal is to get a scholarship in wrestling to Penn State.
Kahlil’s family has started a GoFundMe site to raise funds for the trip to Abu Dhabi. That website can be accessed here.
