Bozanic helps California team win wrestling nationals

Liberty High School freshman wrestler Anna Bozanic was a member of the California Red team that defeated Colorado on Saturday to win the Junior Women’s Greco-Roman National Duals tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Bozanic, wrestling at 200 pounds, pinned Natasha Kuberski to contribute to the victory. Her pin also helped start a California rally in the semifinals, when the team fought back from a 25-1 deficit to defeat Utah, 33-31.

In the May national rankings released by USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Bozanic ranked 15th at 200 pounds. She is the only Cadet (freshman) in the top four weight classes.

Since placing third in the CIF State meet this winter, Bozanic has worked hard in training and has reduced her weight from 230 pounds to 200. She has three years of eligibility left at Liberty.
