Authorities provided more details Friday on the deaths of two Menifee residents in separate traffic collisions this week.
Paz Lim, 62, died at the scene of a collision just after 10 p.m. Thursday on the northbound 215 Freeway near Scott Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Lim was stopped in traffic when her Toyota Camry was rear-ended by a Dodge Ram truck “at a high rate of speed.” The impact sent the Camry under a tractor-trailer truck, killing Lim.
The driver of the Dodge Ram truck suffered minor injuries. No arrests were announced by the CHP.
All northbound lanes of the freeway were shut down for more than three hours during the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the CHP at 951-506-2000.
In a collision about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in Murrieta, 23-year-old motorcyclist Mason Young was killed when struck by a four-door sedan at the intersection of Whitewood Road and Hellebore Street, the Murrieta Police Department reported.
First responders found Young unresponsive and not breathing. Despite lifesaving measures, Young was pronounced dead at the scene. A 17-year-old female who was the driver of the sedan was not injured.
An investigation revealed that the sedan was making a left turn from Hellebore Street into Whitewood Road when the motorcycle broadsided the sedan at the driver’s side door. There were no indications of driver impairment. Cause of the collision appears to be a failure to yield the right of way, authorities said.
Anyone with information related to this traffic collision and has not been contacted by a Murrieta Police Officer or an Investigator is encouraged to contact Murrieta Police Traffic Investigator Anthony Datil at 951-461-6397 or adatil@murrietaca.gov, or Traffic Bureau Sergeant Steve Whiddon at 951-461-6323 or swhiddon@murrietaca.gov.
