Press release from Mt. San Jacinto College:
Mt. San Jacinto College held its annual State of the College event on April 28 at the Menifee Valley Campus, bringing together the community to reflect on the college’s accomplishments over the past three years and its plans for the future. This was the first in-person State of the College hosted in three years, due to the pandemic closures.
The event, hosted by the MSJC Foundation, opened with remarks from Adam Eventov, Foundation President, and Alisha Wilkins, Foundation Vice President.
Superintendent/President Roger Schultz, Ph.D. started the presentation with, “This is an exciting and transitional time at MSJC, with many important milestones on the horizon.” Schultz’s speech highlighted the college’s achievements, including record enrollment, amplified diversity efforts, addition of new programs, improved workforce training, enhanced partnerships, and incredible facilities improvements.
“This is a pivotal time at MSJC and the MSJC Foundation,” Schultz said. “Today you will learn about the exciting plans that will set us on a successful path well into the future.”
The program also featured videos led by the college’s five Board members whose presentations highlighted the five priorities that guide MSJC’s actions as an institution:
-- Student Success
-- Systematic Planning and Assessment
-- Fiscally Sound Position
-- Institutional Pride and Organizational Culture
-- Community Partnerships and Service
The college’s leaders reported on the progress made in various areas including academics; student life; diversity, equity, inclusion, and access; budgets; athletics; workforce training; and collaborations.
Schultz closed the event with a look ahead to MSJC’s future plans, including the opening of several significant facilities.
The event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially dedicating the Athletics and Kinesiology complex at the Menifee Valley Campus, which includes a new football stadium on the Menifee campus. The ceremony was a momentous occasion, with brief remarks from Schultz.
“We are thrilled to cut the ribbon on this beautiful athletics field,” he said.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, certificates of recognition were presented to the college from California State Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, California Assemblymember Bill Essayli, Riverside County Board of Supervisors Gutierrez and Washington, and the City of Menifee. Mayor Bill Zimmerman proudly recognized MSJC as the crown jewel of Menifee.
