MENIFEE -- Two drivers were arrested for DUI and eight drivers were cited for suspended/revoked license or driving without a license during a Menifee Police Department DUI/DL checkpoint on Saturday, April 22.
The checkpoint was held near the intersection of Scott Road and Breighton Wood Street from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Additionally, 17 drivers were issued a citation for various other vehicle code violations.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
The Menifee Police Department is 100 percent committed to preventing, deterring, and arresting impaired driving in Menifee and it will continue to be a top priority. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
