Liberty track team sends 26 qualifiers to CIF prelims

The Liberty girls 4x400 relay took first place at league finals.

Liberty High School track and field athletes won league championships in 17 events at this week’s Mountain Pass League finals, giving the Bison the team championship for both boys and girls.

In all, 26 athletes qualified for the Division 3 prelims May 6 at Yorba Linda High School. Jeremiah McClure won the 200 meters (22.29) and 400 meters (51.61) and was named Male MVP of the league finals. Nevaeh Moala won the 100 hurdles (17.89) and 300 hurdles (49.34) and was named Female MVP.

Sophomore Juan Juarez won the 800 meters in 2:00.27. He is the second ranked sophomore in the nation and No. 1 in California with a personal best of 1:53.43, coach Josh Cagwin said.
