A female student at Heritage High School was arrested Tuesday on a charge of felony assault in connection with an on-campus fight, authorities said.
A School Resource Officer at the school was alerted to a medical emergency from a fight between two female students, according to a Menifee Police Department news release. The injured student was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
The School Resource Officer interviewed the involved students, witnesses, and reviewed video that was taken by other students. The student was then booked into custody at the Riverside County Juvenile Detention Center.
The injured student has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
The MPD would like to urge parents to have productive conversations with their students regarding the negative impacts of video recording fights and then sharing the videos on social media. Taking the videos is not productive and can lead to continued violence.
