Large exhibit boards, performance props, website pages, and documentary videos were just a few of the categories of student projects at the 2023 Riverside County National History Day competition held at Canyon Springs High School on March 11. The theme for this year’s competition was “Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas”.

The theme inspired Romoland School District students Adrian Bahena and Alexa Villagomez to showcase Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a leader of the civil rights frontier who fought against segregation and unequal rights.

Adrian and Alexa, both fifth grade students at Boulder Ridge Elementary School, will be advancing to the National History Day-State Competition, to be held April 14-16 at California State University, Sacramento.
