Paloma Valley High’s wrestling program had a record-setting day at Saturday’s Ivy League finals, with every starter qualifying for the CIF meet for the first time ever. Fourteen boys and 13 girls advanced, many with first-place finishes.
League champions for the boys team were Uriel Cruz (106), Syruss Flores (113), Aiden Platte (160), Javon Major (170), and Simon Flores (220). Also qualifying for the CIF meet with high finishes were Justin Brown, Jake Brown, Jacob Rivera, Cristian Mier, Jose Jimenez, Elijah Benavidez, Daniel Diaz, Ben Sohrab, and Chris Flores.
League champions for the girls team were Karissa Turnwall (111), Jiana Rivera (116), Makayla Correa (121), and Jaqui Lebron (131). Also qualifying for the CIF meet with high finishes were Yi-Ru Hong, Jaime Barron, Koryna Diaz, Gabby Jimenez, Nicole Tinson, Nichole Lehman, Athena Saenz Franco, Melissa Moreno, and Celi Orozco.
The CIF boys meet with take place next weekend at Murrieta Valley High School. The girls meet will be held at Canyon Springs.
