Mountain Pass League champion Liberty High and South Valley League champion Santa Rosa Academy will both play home games Wednesday in the first round of the CIF boys basketball playoffs, the CIF Southern Section office announced today.
Liberty (19-3, 10-0) will be at home for a 7 p.m. game against San Bernardino (15-13, 6-4) in a Division 4 opener. Santa Rosa Academy (20-4, 12-0) will play host to Hacienda Heights Wilson (18-10, 6-4) in Division 4AA.
In a Division 4AA wild card game, Heritage (8-15, 4-5) will play at Costa Mesa (14-13, 9-3) on Tuesday. The Patriots defeated rival Paloma Valley in a tiebreaker game on Friday to qualify for the playoffs.
In girls basketball, two fourth-place teams with winning records received at-large bids to the playoffs. Santa Rosa Academy (11-10, 6-6) will play at Redlands Adventist Academy in a Division 5A wild card game on Tuesday. Heritage (13-12, 3-6) will play at Northwood (17-9, 5-1) in a Division 3AA opener on Thursday. The Patriots lost a tiebreaker game for third place on Friday but still qualified as an at-large team.
