Heritage High’s bid to qualify for the CIF girls basketball playoffs ended Friday when the Patriots lost a 53-44 decision to visiting JW North in a tiebreaker for third place in the Sunbelt League.
While the Huskies await Sunday’s announcement of their first-round playoff opponent, the Patriots’ season ended with a 13-12 record.
The teams were tied at 14-14 starting the second quarter before North went on an 11-0 scoring run for a 25-14 lead. Hitting consistently from inside and outside, the Huskies took a 30-20 lead into the locker room at halftime and were never really threatened after that.
Sophomore guard Sierra Maxwell led Heritage scorers with 20 points. Mariah Logan added 13.
