Bison dominate competition at wrestling league finals

Several wrestlers posted first-place finishes Saturday for the Liberty High School boys and girls teams at the Mountain Pass League finals.

Taking first place for the boys team were Hansel Verdan (106), Dylan Backer (195), Jacob Ramirez (220), and John Phillips (285). Second-place finishers were Jordan Moore (113), Shamous Waite (126), Johnny Law (138), and Dominic Crossman (160). Caleb Rios placed third at 170 pounds.

Evan Fernandes (120) and Luis Flores (182) placed fourth and will serve as alternates when the Bison go to the CIF meet at Capistrano Valley next weekend.

On the girls side, first-place winners were Ana Bozanic, Vanessa Hollman (137), Alina Magdaleno (160), and Siana Valentine (170). Third-place finishers were Saige Shipman (131) and Samantha Crossman (143).

Those girls will advance to the CIF meet at Corona next weekend.
