A Nuevo woman was arrested on Jan. 18 in connection with a hit-and-run crash that resulted in a fatality, police said.
Rita Quintana, 47, was identified as the driver in the hit-and-run, according to a CHP news release. She was taken into custody and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.
The investigation revealed that on Jan. 12, Quintana was driving a blue Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Montgomery Avenue, north of Nuevo Road, when her vehicle struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway. The suspect fled the scene without stopping.
Officers were able to identify critical pieces on scene which led to a vehicle color, make and model. The vehicle was eventually located and linked to Quintana.
The CHP is seeking additional witnesses who may have observed the incident and encourages them to call the CHP - Riverside Investigation Unit at 951-637-8000.
