The Paloma Valley High girls soccer team went into the holiday break with three wins and a tie in their last five games.
The Wildcats started last week with a 3-1 victory over Heritage on Dec. 12. Kayla Castillo scored two goals and Jacinda Rivera one, and Cassandra Cortez made three goalie saves.
“We were able to play all the girls in that game because our girls played good team ball control,” coach Carlos Alfaro said. “It was good experience for some of the younger girls.”
The Wildcats came back on Friday and defeated Tahquitz, 4-0. Castillo, Sofia Desirello, Madison Rafetty and Samantha LaDue all scored goals. Cortez made three saves.
“One of those saves was a great breakaway save,” Alfaro said. “Cassandra is an incredible goal keeper and a four-year starter.
“We controlled the tempo of the game. The midfielders were very dominant and the defense was great.”
The Wildcats are now off until Jan. 3, when they open league play at Orange Vista.
