The Paloma Valley High School competition cheer team has qualified for the nationals, and the team is raising funds to attend and compete in the event Feb. 24-26.
Varsity USA Nationals are being held at the Anaheim Convention Center. In order to attend, the team had to obtain a qualifying score at a Varsity regional event. That came in the team’s first competition -- the Varsity USA Southern California Regional Nov. 19 at Summit High School.
The team cannot afford to compete without the community’s help. Although transportation costs are relatively minor because of the proximity of the event, there are other significant expenses: $9,000 for hotel rooms, $4,000 for entry fees, $2,000 for meals, plus new equipment to replace worn and damaged items.
“We are humbly asking for donations from our dedicated supporters and local businesses in our community in order to cover expenses for our nationals trip,” the group said in a statement to Menifee 24/7. “All donations are tax deductible; and any donation, no matter how big or small, will help our athletes be able to compete at nationals.”
